Nurturing the Faith of Our Children and Youth in the Tigray Orthodox Tewahedo Tradition
Sunday School is the heart of our youth ministry at Debre Zion St. Mary's Church. We are committed to raising our children in the faith, language, and traditions of the Tigray Orthodox Tewahedo Church — equipping the next generation to carry forward our sacred heritage.
Our Sunday School follows the rich educational tradition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, which has been educating children in the faith for over 1,600 years — one of the oldest continuous Christian education programs in the world.
Age-appropriate Bible lessons, songs, prayers, and introduction to the Orthodox faith through stories and activities.
Deeper study of Scripture, church history, the Ge'ez language, Orthodox theology, and preparation for the sacraments.
Advanced theological education, leadership development, Deaconate training, and engagement with the broader Orthodox community.
